About Bass Works
Bass Works is one of the largest annual gatherings of double bassists in the United States and takes place each summer in Maryland.
Offerings include:
- A week-long program with residential and intensity options
- An intern program for early college students studying bass and/or music education
- An associate staff program for developing bass teachers and performers
- An alumni weekend for any and all former campers
Bass Works Fundamentals
Program Requirements:
- This program is open to students who have not yet finished the 6th grade.
- Private bass lessons are not required but each student must have at least one year of bass experience.
Program Cost: $600
Basic Schedule:
First Sunday Night: Optional welcome dinner, meeting, and performance in the evening.
Monday-Saturday: Classes, lessons, and rehearsals from around 8:30am-4pm. Students have the option to attend evening programs around 7pm if accompanied by an adult.
Final Sunday: Dress rehearsals in the morning, final concert around 3pm
Secondary Division
Program Requirements:
- This program is best for bassists of any age who have finished the 6th grade. (Exceptions to this are made on a case-by-case basis with a recommendation from a private instructor)
- Students must be at least 13 years of age to apply for the residential program.
- Private bass lessons are not required but each student must have at least one year of bass experience.
