Orford double bass masterclasses

Ali Yazdanfar, Joel Quarrington, Andrew Raciti, Rex Surany, and David Sinclair will all be teaching at Orford Music in Quebec this summer.

Ali recently shared out the following information about this program, and you can learn more and apply here.

From Ali

Hello Bass Friends,

I hope all of you are well.

There are so many great summer festivals, but I just wanted to send a quick note about Orford Music, as I hope you or your students will consider it.

This summer, besides myself, Joel Quarrington, Andrew Raciti, Rex Surany, and David Sinclair are all on the faculty.  What makes Orford special is the individual attention – the sessions focus first on individual lessons and masterclasses, although there are also of course group technique presentations.  We also work hard to be sure the students are able to absorb the information they get, in a positive and constructive atmosphere, while also having a good time!

Students can apply for as many or as few weeks as they like.

Applications for scholarship are due at the end of this week: Feb 2, 2023

Although students can still apply until March 30, nearly all scholarships will be spoken for.

In the past as well, for students who are unable to travel with instruments, instrument rental is possible.

About the setting

Orford is not far from the big cities of the east coast – Montreal is (1hr15), Boston (4hr), NYC (6hr), DC (10hr), Detroit (10hr), Cleveland (10hr), and is set in the beautiful mountains of Eastern Quebec, in the Orford National Park (hiking, lake swimming, camping, fat and mountain biking, kayaking canoeing – in fact you can walk directly to hiking/biking trails from Orford Music).  The village of Orford and the town of Magog are very nearby, with restaurants, shopping, and local events.

I hope you or your students will consider this – please contact me if you have any questions!

Thank you, and I hope to see all of you soon!
